AVA Can't Get Going
AVA drops another gameUpdated Wednesday May 13, 2015 by Justin Markley.
Four walks and three errors in the field. Add in three hits given up and a wild pitch and that is how AVA started a game down 7-0. The trouble continued in the bottom of the first with a 1, 2, 3 side seeing just 10 pitches.
And then the trouble compounded in the top of the second with another two errors along with a wild pitch to give up another 5 runs. The offense was a little better in the bottom of the second inning with a hit and four batters seeing a total of 18 pitches. But AVA was still down 12-0 very early.
Onto the third inning, AVA issued 4 walks, hit a batter, allowed three to score on wild pitches or passed balls and another three to score on three errors. They were down 18-0 in the bottom of the third when they started to show some life with hits from Nat Prugh, Chandler Jeep, and Maddie Jo Robbins. After stolen bases by Nat and Chandler, Maddie Jo got two RBIs. Luke Ford added one as well. The score was 18-3.
In the top of the fourth AVA had their first scoreless defensive inning getting the first three batters faced either at the plate or on the bases. Great double play by Nat at shortstop! In the bottom of the fourth the offense still had some life. Lukas Markley got his second hit of the game and got around on a stolen base and Nat’s second hit. Lukas scored on a passed ball and Nat later scored after a stolen base and passed balls. The score was 18-5.
In the top of the fifth AVA committed another two errors before giving up another couple of hits and allowing three more runs to cross. Carson Matz did a nice job on the hill getting the final two outs. In the bottom of the fifth AVA put the ball in play, but they hit into a couple of fielder’s choice and then the final strike out. The final was 21-5 with Bank of the San Juans getting the victory.
Next up for AVA is Mining Equipment on Wednesday evening.
